The Miami Heat scored eighty-six first-half points versus the Grizzlies

Miami Heat claimed a decisive 146 to 114 win over the Grizzlies in their initial basketball match since player Rozier was detained for alleged illegal sports betting.

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also arrested in connection with a broad FBI investigation into sports betting. Both men deny the claims.

But, the Miami team were focused as they scored 86 opening half points to be ahead of the Grizzlies by thirty-nine at halftime, the largest halftime lead in the franchise's 37-year existence.

Bam Adebayo top-scored with 24 points and later stated Terry had the team's full backing.

"We stand behind him. Complete backing," Bam said. "You support him through and through. He's like family at the end of the day."

Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra added: "Rozier is a person who is very dear to all of us. He has made a real positive impact on our locker room.

"We send our thoughts and support for him as he faces this."

Portland also secured their first game since the arrests, with Brazil-born Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the team to a decisive 139 to 119 win over the Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and his coaching style," Splitter said. "We're thinking of him and his family but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' by Recent Events

Addressing the detentions for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the events of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and supporters than the fairness of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."

Silver further said an NBA investigation into the player's conduct in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he played for the Hornets against the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"We were informed by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.

"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, couldn't find anything.

"Federal authorities has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the league office is unable to.

"So, we've been working with them since then. Naturally, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"And two and a half years later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Rozier.

"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between protecting people's rights and investigating."

From Greece forward Giannis Antetokounmpo additionally had a strong performance with thirty-one points, twenty rebounds and 7 assists in the Bucks' 122-116 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Houston Rockets were defeated 115-111 by the Pistons despite 37 points from Kevin Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had twenty-nine points, eleven boards and 9 blocks in the Spurs' overtime win over the Pelicans.
