Grief as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities reported the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by three individuals, with one began shooting at him before escaping on foot.

The purpose of the incident is unknown and no one has been arrested are in custody, police said.

The Fatal Incident

Law enforcement said that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the building overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by unknown people, as per local media.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.

Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what appeared to be a security uniform opening fire on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but fell down a short distance away.

Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the assault.
