Followers Demand Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are urging that a man who breached a fence and grabbed the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage shows the Australian man bypassing camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade flanked by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram account features videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Safety
Numerous fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote another response on Instagram.
Some fans also faulted guards at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore mall, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on November 21, is the follow-up of a dual interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, winning several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
