World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Dominance

Across the season, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and collected a historic £11m in earnings.

She garnered nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break after the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
