Champions League Action This Evening: Chelsea v Barcelona & More
Welcome to another evening of exciting European Cup soccer. 9 matches are set for this evening, featuring three English clubs in action. Chelsea face Barcelona in the standout fixture of the night, whilst Newcastle visit Marseille and City host Bayer Leverkusen.
League Table
It's the midway point of the league stage, meaning the rankings is beginning to form. Each of the six British clubs are presently in the upper twelve, but there are only 2 points between fifth and sixteenth position, so there's a whiff of snakes and ladders about the whole thing. Everything is to play for.

Early Match Updates
Just one goal during the opening period of the early fixtures. Dahl's 6th-minute sizzler has given Benfica under Mourinho a 1-0 lead away to the Dutch side.
Newcastle’s Trip to Marseille
Although The Magpies arrived in the French south fresh from their restorative two-one home English top-flight win against Manchester City on Saturday, and having beaten Union Saint-Gilloise, Benfica and Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League, their only on the road victory since the start of April came in Brussels at Union Saint-Gilloise.
It's not that Howe was overly keen to discuss the psychological aspect of this away form issue. “The Champions League is different to Premier League games,” said the manager, whose team are sixth in the European table, with nine points from a available 12 and direct progression to the last 16 almost within touching distance. “I am not sure if you can draw parallels between them.”
We have a separate live blog for Chelsea v Barcelona. Murray, the minute-by-minute version of Diego Maradona is handling for that.
